Movin' On

by Maria and the Coins

/

about

“Movin’ On” is about choosing to follow your own path even if it means leaving those you love most. Between the bittersweet lyrics and the call and response play between the vocal and lead guitar lines, the song will pull on the heartstrings of anyone who has ever moved away from home.

Band members felt that “Movin’ On” was the natural choice for the first single off their upcoming album because the song acts as the band’s thank you note to all their fans, families, and supporters near and far.

lyrics

Will you still love me if I go,
Will you still let me call this place my home,
Even if I choose the lonely road,
Will you still love me if I go?

Will you still hold me in your arms
And tell me anywhere’s never too far
Long as we’re looking at the same star
Will you still be the one to hold my heart?

I’m not movin’ up, I’m movin’ on,
But I won’t let go of you,
You say child be strong, this road is long
But a part of me will always be with you
and the heart in me will always come home to you

When the darkness brings out all my fears
and the light in me just disappears
I’ll think of all the love that led me here
and remember home is always near
And while I’m on my way to who I’ll be
I’ll think of everything you did for me
Even though it meant setting me free
Know that who I am is ‘cause you believed.

I’m not movin’ up, I’m movin’ on
But I won’t let go of you
You say child be strong, this road is long
But a part of me will always be with you
and the heart in me is comin’ back home…

And if the road gets long, keep holdin’ on
if hope is gone, keep travelin’ on
And if the road gets long, keep holdin’ on
if hope is gone, keep travelin’ on

I’m not movin’ up, I’m movin’ on
But I won’t let go of you
You say child be strong, this road is long
But a part of me will always be with you
and the heart in me will always come home to you.
